Our Story:

Started by the previous owner in 2000, The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy in Comox has been a pillar of care for the town of Comox and surrounding area for over 20 years. Serving multiple generations of families, the team knows our patients by name and understands their healthcare needs and history.

We are currently looking for new team members for the following positions:

Pharmacy Assistant - Greeter / Cashier

Job Summary

The Greeter welcomes patients and provides assistance to patients in finding items in the front store. He or she must provide unparalleled service to patients.

Activities include:

  • Greeting and assisting patients,
  • Managing the cash register and sales,
  • Calling patients and organizing deliveries,
  • Manual billing processes,
  • Rental of equipment
  • Managing customer charge accounts.

Competencies Knowledge:

⦁    Understanding of the limits of the greeter’s role and appropriate boundaries

⦁    Knowledge of the requirements for confidentiality and privacy of patient information

⦁    Maintenance of knowledge and skills required for the role

⦁    Knowledge and application of the Medicine Shoppe System (e.g. Critical Conversations, etc)Skills:

⦁    Highly refined communication skills, including listening and empathy for patients

⦁    Collaboration and communication within the pharmacy team

⦁    Organizational skills and attention to detail

⦁    Proficient computer and keyboarding skills

⦁    Experience with Kroll and Telus POS an asset

⦁    Strong mathematics skills

⦁    Understanding of the sales process and skills for providing a high level of customer service

⦁    Strong problem solving skills

⦁    Initiative and the ability to offer new ideas

⦁    A strong personal commitment to improving one’s own skills and knowledge

General Duties

⦁    Clean and sanitize the pharmacy and front store as required in collaboration with the pharmacy team

⦁    Dusting and facing of shelves

⦁    Maintain an orderly work environment

⦁    Appropriate shredding of patient information

Other duties as required by the Pharmacy Manager


⦁    High school diploma

Qualifications and Requirements

⦁    3-5 years experience in a community pharmacy an asset

⦁    Cashier or retail store experience
